Cleanings & Digital X-rays
Dental cleanings are important as they are a preventative measure for cavities and other dental related pain. Dental X-rays allow us to detect cavities, infections, and other problems with your teeth. Our up-to-date digital X-ray machine exposes you to much less radiation than traditional dental X-rays.
Emergency Exams &
Treatment
We are here for you! Here at River Valley Family Dentistry, we strive to get you in for an examination as soon as possible in the event of an emergency.
Extractions
Unfortunately, at times, a tooth is considered ‘non-restorable’ which means it cannot be saved. While we do have to refer out from time to time, most dental extractions can be handled in our office.
Cosmetic Dentistry &
Smile Makeovers
We love making people smile! If you aren’t happy with your smile, come in for a consultation to see how we can change that. We can treat chipped, broken, or discolored teeth.
Teeth Whitening
Our office makes bleaching trays that you can use to brighten your smile to a shade you are happy with! Come on in and see what we can do for you!
Root Canal Therapy
When a tooth has a cavity that goes into the nerve of your tooth, or a dental infection, it requires root canal treatment. We take the source of the pain out and typically put a crown over the area.
Fillings, Crowns, Bridges
-
Fillings - are a dental procedure that involves removing a cavity or chip in a tooth and replacing it with a plastic resin. We match the filling with the natural color of your teeth.
-
Crowns - unlike a dental filling that only goes over a few areas of a tooth, a crown is a restoration that covers all surfaces of the tooth. These are also made to match up to the color of your natural tooth structure. Crowns are necessary if a tooth is broken, a root canal is done and the tooth needs to be covered, and in certain cosmetic cases to change the shape of your teeth.
-
Bridges - are similar to crowns. This procedure involves two crowns on either side of an area you are missing a tooth with a tooth to cover that space in the middle. They are permanently cemented in, like crowns.
Partials & Complete Dentures
Partials and complete dentures are used in certain situations to replace missing teeth. Partial dentures are used by connecting to remaining teeth in the patient’s mouth and are removable, which means they come in and out of the mouth each day. Complete dentures are used when a patient is missing all of their teeth, and they are removable as well.

Implant Crown Restorations
At this time, if you need an implant to replace a missing tooth, Dr. Pirtle will send you to one of our amazing oral surgeons in the area to get it placed. Dr. Pirtle will then restore the implant once the healing process is complete with an additional part of the implant, an abutment, and a crown.
Periodontal Therapy
Periodontal disease is disease of the gum and bone around the teeth. Signs of periodontal disease include: red, bleeding gums, recession of the gums, bone loss around the existing teeth, mobile teeth and tartar below the gumline. Our periodontal therapy focuses on stabilizing your gum health to provide you with the healthiest teeth possible.
Night Guards for Clenching/Grinding
Night guards can be used in situations when we see areas on your teeth that are consistent with clenching or grinding your teeth. The guard can help protect your teeth from additional damage as well as lessen the stress on your jaw muscles.
